Review: This long (142m) fascinating, complex film follows the reflections of a former writer, Jem Gambardella (Toni Servillo), as he contemplates his past and present life, a life, it would appear, of lost opportunities, both personally and professionally. As a member of the wealthy elite Roman society, employ it in an empty hobbies of those parties fueled by drink and drugs, bizarre events and art casual sex with a beautiful but soulless women. Gambardella is both participant and observer, looking at himself as well as his partner, the mysterious beast trapped in a golden cage, which is Rome all the stunning beauty of the architecture, fountains, sculptures and paintings.
